The Lithuanian Flora Department of the Klaipeda University Botanical Garden focuses on native and rare plant species, reflecting the importance of local flora in traditional botanical gardens. Established in 2016, the department is organized alphabetically by plant family names and showcases unique ecosystems, including the Baltic Sea dune, dry meadow, and forest plants. Among the noteworthy species are Eryngium maritimum L., a coastal plant found along European, North African, and Middle Eastern coasts, and marsh rush, a relict plant from the Arctic climate period. These plants are successfully propagated in the garden, adding to the richness of the collection.
